StarLife Supports Tarkwa Prison
As part of its corporate social responsibility activities, StarLife Assurance donated materials worth GHC10,000.00 towards the construction of a descent place of convenience in the cells for inmates at the Tarkwa Prisons.
The request came when officials of StarLife made up of the CEO, Mr. George Kojo Addison, Chief Distribution Officer, Mr. Iddrisu Nashiru and the Western Regional Manager Mr. Kofi Ankamah Ferkah met with a cross section of the business community at the Longji Hotel in Tarkwa. Receiving the items on behalf of the prison officers, the commander in-charge of the Tarkwa local prison, Mr kweku Ababio Ali revealed that none of the 8 cells in the prison yard have any decent place of convenience. The commander was full of appreciation to the company and management. He assured the management of StarLife that the items received would be used for its intended purpose. He also appealed to other corporate organizations to emulate starLife as there were countless pressing needs of the prison. . A leader among the inmates on behalf of the other inmates expressed gratitude to management of StarLife for the kind gesture.
In presenting the items to the prison authorities, Mr. Ankamah Ferkah reiterated the value StarLife places on human life and the quest to see decency in all facades of human endeavor.
The items donated include; 8 sets of water closets, 40 pieces of 4 inches PVC pipes and bags of cement to the local prison to enable them construct decent place of convenience to end the long queues and discomfort associated with inmates freeing themselves.
The company recently constructed a 4 bed – room apartment for the military training school at Shai hills, constructed a mechanized borehole facility for Senior Staff College at Teshie, refurbished the Fire Service offices Mess at the training school in Accra and the construction of officers Mess for CEPS at the Kpetoe training school.
